Dumpster Rental in Pomona, CA

Learn who provides roll-off bins in Pomona, when you need a street encroachment permit, and how to plan a clean, legal placement.

Pomona is the eastern anchor of LA County, home to Cal Poly Pomona, the Fairplex and historic neighborhoods like Lincoln Park, Phillips Ranch, the Arts Colony downtown and Westmont. Its many early 1900s Craftsman and Victorian homes mean plenty of remodels, plaster and lath tear-outs, roof replacements and estate cleanouts, while Phillips Ranch tracts see kitchen and bath updates.

In Pomona, temporary roll-off bins are not an open market. The city awarded Athens Services an exclusive contract covering commercial waste, recycling, organics and roll-off service, effective July 1, 2023 (see the Pomona Franchise Hauler page). Because of that, the list below is short on purpose: we only show providers the city itself points to, not every company that advertises Pomona online.

Pomona dumpster permit rules

Any work in Pomona’s public right-of-way needs a permit. Placing a bin on the street or sidewalk falls under an encroachment permit from the Public Works Engineering Division (Land Development group). See the official Pomona Engineering Services page. Ask Engineering for the current fee and insurance rules before delivery.

Private driveway? A bin placed completely on private property (your driveway or yard) usually does not need a street permit. You need one when any part of the container sits on the street, sidewalk or parkway. HOA or property-manager rules can still apply. See our driveway placement guide.

Local tips for Pomona projects

  • Older homes: Plaster, lath and old roofing are heavy. A 20-yard bin often fits a room-by-room remodel, but watch the weight limit.
  • Narrow lots: Lincoln Park and Arts Colony streets often have tight driveways. Measure the space first. A 20-yard bin is usually about 8 feet wide.
  • Fairplex events: Street parking near the Fairplex fills up during large events. Plan delivery around them.

Common dumpster sizes

10 yardSmall cleanouts, a bathroom tear-out, or heavy debris like concrete, dirt or tile, which haulers often limit to small bins.
20 yardA common pick for a kitchen remodel, flooring removal or a one-layer roof on a typical house.
30 yardBigger renovations, whole-home cleanouts and additions with bulky, lighter debris.
40 yardLarge construction, demolition or commercial cleanouts. Needs a long, clear spot and is rarely practical on narrow streets.

Not sure which fits? Read the dumpster sizes guide. Prices depend on size, debris type, tonnage and rental days, so we don’t list prices here. See the LA dumpster rental cost guide and compare real quotes.
