Dumpster Rental in Manhattan Beach, CA

Manhattan Beach’s franchised hauler handles temporary bins, and street placement needs a right-of-way permit. Here’s how to plan.

Manhattan Beach includes the Sand Section and its walk streets, the Tree Section, Hill Section, East Manhattan and the area around Manhattan Village. Teardowns and major remodels on small, high-value lots are common, along with roofing jobs and cleanouts.

In Manhattan Beach, temporary roll-off bins are not an open market. The city says Waste Management is its franchised solid waste hauler, including commercial service and temporary bin rentals (see Manhattan Beach Solid Waste and Recycling Programs). Because of that, the list below is short on purpose: we only show providers the city itself points to, not every company that advertises Manhattan Beach online.

Manhattan Beach housing and placement realities

Many older beach cottages in Manhattan Beach have been replaced with large new homes that fill most of their lots. That leaves little or no yard or driveway space for a bin. In the Sand Section, walk streets are pedestrian-only, so trucks can’t reach the front of those homes. Deliveries usually come through the rear alley, where space is shared with neighbors’ garages. Steep grades in the Hill Section and busy corridors like Sepulveda Boulevard, Rosecrans Avenue and Manhattan Beach Boulevard limit placement further. East of Sepulveda, many lots have conventional driveways, and a driveway bin there is often the simplest choice.

What the franchise rule means for you: the city names WM as its franchised hauler for temporary bins, so arrange your bin through WM. A bin from a company outside the franchise may not comply. If the bin will sit in an alley or street, get the Right-of-Way permit before delivery and plan swaps carefully, since a blocked alley affects every garage on it.

Manhattan Beach dumpster permit rules

A roll-off bin on a public street or right-of-way needs a city Right-of-Way (Street Use) permit. The city lists POD/roll-off bins as a permit category. See the official Manhattan Beach Right-of-Way Permits page.

Private driveway? A bin placed completely on private property (your driveway or yard) usually does not need a street permit. You need one when any part of the container sits on the street, sidewalk or parkway. HOA or property-manager rules can still apply. See our driveway placement guide.

Local tips for Manhattan Beach projects

  • Walk streets: Sand Section homes may have no vehicle access at the front. Plan alley placement with a permit.
  • Small lots: Bins often need to be small or swapped often.
  • Summer crowds: Avoid beach-season weekends for delivery.

Common dumpster sizes

10 yardSmall cleanouts, a bathroom tear-out, or heavy debris like concrete, dirt or tile, which haulers often limit to small bins.
20 yardA common pick for a kitchen remodel, flooring removal or a one-layer roof on a typical house.
30 yardBigger renovations, whole-home cleanouts and additions with bulky, lighter debris.
40 yardLarge construction, demolition or commercial cleanouts. Needs a long, clear spot and is rarely practical on narrow streets.

Not sure which fits? Read the dumpster sizes guide. Prices depend on size, debris type, tonnage and rental days, so we don’t list prices here. See the LA dumpster rental cost guide and compare real quotes.
