Dumpster Rental in Alhambra, CA

Alhambra’s exclusive franchise hauler provides roll-off boxes, and street bins need a city encroachment permit. Here’s how it works.

Alhambra is a western San Gabriel Valley city with Craftsman and Spanish Revival homes in neighborhoods like Emery Park, Midwick Tract, Alhambra Park and Bean Ranch, plus the busy Main Street corridor. Remodels, ADUs, roof jobs and estate cleanouts are common.

In Alhambra, temporary roll-off bins are not an open market. The City of Alhambra says Republic Services provides exclusive solid waste and recycling collection for residential and commercial accounts. The city also publishes Republic’s roll-off box and temporary bin rates. Because of that, the list below is short on purpose: we only show providers the city itself points to, not every company that advertises Alhambra online.

Alhambra dumpster permit rules

The city’s Temporary Trash Bins page says a street encroachment permit from the City of Alhambra is needed to place a bin on the street. You get it from Public Works. The same page says small temporary trash bins can’t take dirt or large amounts of concrete, tile or roofing. For substantial construction debris, order a “lowboy” or a roll-off box.

Private driveway? A bin placed completely on private property (your driveway or yard) usually does not need a street permit. You need one when any part of the container sits on the street, sidewalk or parkway. HOA or property-manager rules can still apply. See our driveway placement guide.

Local tips for Alhambra projects

  • Temporary bin vs. roll-off: Alhambra limits small temporary bins to 600 lb. Use a roll-off for remodels.
  • Older neighborhoods: Emery Park and Midwick lots often have long, narrow driveways. Check the width.
  • Recycling: The city page lists a CalRecycle-certified C&D recycling facility nearby.

Common dumpster sizes

10 yardSmall cleanouts, a bathroom tear-out, or heavy debris like concrete, dirt or tile, which haulers often limit to small bins.
20 yardA common pick for a kitchen remodel, flooring removal or a one-layer roof on a typical house.
30 yardBigger renovations, whole-home cleanouts and additions with bulky, lighter debris.
40 yardLarge construction, demolition or commercial cleanouts. Needs a long, clear spot and is rarely practical on narrow streets.

Not sure which fits? Read the dumpster sizes guide. Prices depend on size, debris type, tonnage and rental days, so we don’t list prices here. See the LA dumpster rental cost guide and compare real quotes.
